Third Thursdays: Cole Gunter
Join us at the shop on Thursday, July 16, from 5–8PM for the next installment of Near Southside’s Third Thursday at Fort Worth Barber Shop, featuring the work of Fort Worth, Texas based artist Cole Gunter. We’ll have some lite bites as well as natural wine selections from The Holly.
Cole is a Texas-based oil painter whose work explores themes of memory, place, and the quietly iconic moments of life. His paintings evoke a sense of nostalgia, each subject rendered with a reverence for the past and a sharp eye for composition. Rooted in the visual language of mid-century Americana, Cole’s work captures the tension between what remains and what’s been lost. A deliberate aesthetic that serves to anchor a mood and spark a memory. Currently living and working in Fort Worth, Texas, Cole is building a body of work that speaks to anyone with an eye for honest, ambiguous art. His goal is not just to paint scenes from the past, but to create pieces that can resonate with anyone. Through his art, Cole Gunter offers a quiet, compelling look at a fading era, one brushstroke at a time.
“At its core, Reflections is about paying attention. Like most of my work, this collection is built around contrast. Areas of light are rendered with heavy texture, while shadowed areas are left softer and washed. A lot of my work is set outside, things we pass by everyday that we never took the time to appreciate. For this collection I wanted to bring the view indoors and generate a similar feeling.”
